A wall lamp created to explore user interaction with lighting. The mechanical iris is inspired by the opening and closing of a camera’s aperture to regulate the light coming through the lens. By linking the operation of the iris to the rotation of the dial, the user is given a mechanical correlation to the amount of light being emitted while interacting with the piece. The elegance of the dial contrasting the complex mechanics of the iris create a dynamic relationship that is brought together by the soft rings of light that radiate the wall when opened.
